vintage treasures...
Yesterday we visited an amazing antique shop, largely populated by all sorts of strange rusty bits of old farm equipment, vintage bikes, old gates and other interesting pieces (it's called The Rustic Gallery for anyone in Perth). I found these lovely 40's scales (without the pan, but I liked them anyway). I loved the colours, the minty green and bright red, and couldn't resist.
holiday chutney...
Oh hello! I have not blogged for so long, there has been so much happening and Blogland has taken a backseat, but I've returned and am so glad to be back. I think I have a lot of catching up to do on all of your lovely blogs too. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas.
My man has been busily making chutney today, using a bucketful of organic tomatoes from our garden. We had so many and needed to do something with them, so he came up with the fabulous idea of making tomato chutney! Unchartered territory but the end result was amazing! So delicious and the house has the most fantastic aroma. We've even got a few extra jars to give to friends and family. These are all the tomatoes we still have left even after the chutney adventure.

my place and yours...
I've decided to join Pip of Meet Me At Mike's meme - My Place and Yours - as it seems like lots of fun and the themes so far have been really interesting! This week's theme is Through The Front Door, chosen by Femme De Montmartre.

Funnily enough I have posted about my front door before because I really have a thing for doors. We got our front door about a year ago. When you arrive through the front door you are in our living room. We hardly ever use this room because being at the front of the house it unfortunately attracts a lot of noise from the road, and also - white couches, although they look lovely, are the most impractical invention known to man. But one good thing about this space is that it is south facing and stays nice and cool, a bonus as we don't have air conditioning! My favourite new addition to this room is the empty frame on the wall, which I recently inherited from my Aunty and used to belong to my Grandma. It is beautifully hand painted and I'm so pleased to have it!

street art to inspire...
I have been absent from blogland for a few weeks now and I've finally sat down to say hello and post some photos from my Melbourne adventure. On my last day I took myself on a little laneway tour and came across some fantastic shops, artwork and perhaps best of all, an amazing cupcake shop in Degraves Street. These are some shots from Hosier Lane, home to an amazing display of graffiti art that had myself and many others snapping away.

melbourne bound...
I am super excited to be going to Melbourne next week for a bit of a family catch up and some shopping time! I have done the usual touristy things on past trips so am hoping to compile some sort of list of cute little places/shops to visit that I have never stumbled upon before (which is probably most of them!). I am taking much inspiration from Angela's wonderful blog Open and will be taking notes from this before I leave! If you are from Melbourne town and have any suggestions for something a little bit cute and different please share! I would much appreciate it.

not impressed...
So...please tell me how it is, it's 18 months since you last had time off work, you finally book 2 blissful weeks of leave, you plan a most exciting trip to Melbourne town and a wonderful down-south getaway to beautiful Denmark, you have everything in order at work with only one day left to get through...it's Thursday night....and you get the flu. Please tell me. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy???? If I eat choc-chip cookies, will it make it go away? If I go to bed and get a good sleep, will it make it go away? If I pretend it's not happening, WILL IT MAKE IT GO AWAY? I am so not a happy chappy tonight. No I'm not. The end.
Oh and a completely unrelated pic of a cherry blossom. Hmph.

fish on tv...
About 6 years ago when I first met my man, he made me (yes, he is very clever) this awesome TV fish tank out of an old TV. It was out of action for a few years but he resurrected it last weekend. It's kind of daggy and cool at the same time! But what I love about it most is the fact that he made it for me. There are some little fishies in there but you can't really make them out in the photo. Those are my two kids sitting on top of it. Since the weekend Oscar has barely moved from there as it is nice and warm from the pump inside the tank. They can sit there and chatter at the birds out the window and have a whale of a time. You can't imagine how many stupid noises and movements I had to make to get them both to look at me long enough to take this photo!
